Many parents simply shake their heads in disbelief at this statement and deny any truth that might be associated with it. In certain respects, however, whether you want to believe it or not, it is true. We must, however, take certain aspects into account.\tUnder the previous regime, it was customary for schoolchildren and students of all kinds to literally cram the curriculum by heart just to get a good grade. It used to be completely normal and commonplace for tests to be unannounced and administered whenever the teacher decided and whenever he felt like it. For students with C grades, a high school track leading to a diploma was out of the question; instead, they were directed toward a vocational school.\t\tToday, everything is different. The education system has, to a certain extent, become incredibly more relaxed, which is, in some respects, a good thing. Young people no longer have to stress as much; they are learning a certain sense of morality, and, most importantly, discussions have begun about educational reform, which is currently still only in the negotiation phase. However, if we were to discuss such a change in more detail, we would find that students are forced to memorize a nonsensical amount of material, half of which they will never use in everyday life. They are then graded on this material based on whether they were able to devote a portion of their lives to studying it. The one-to-five scale is also highly subjective. As many of us would surely agree, a much broader range is needed for a careful and honest assessment of work and the potential differences among students. While we may learn to solve quadratic equations in math or classify minerals based on how they formed in biology, skills such as raising a child, being a good partner, being a responsible citizen, or the art of self-discovery are nowhere to be found in the curriculum.\t\tIn our view, we believe that educational reform should be carried out using modern technologies.\tWe can, of course, debate the pros and cons of both approaches, but the bottom line remains the same. We still haven\u2019t found the perfect solution for our children\u2014one that both they and we would welcome.
